I'm a therapist. Why is my profile listed, and can I have it removed?
First, thank you for reaching out — we know it can be surprising to find your practice listed on a site you didn't sign up for, and we're happy to explain how it works.
Where your listing comes from. Review My Therapy is a directory of licensed mental health professionals. Listings are compiled from publicly available sources — state licensing boards, public professional directories, practice websites, and information you've published about your services — along with listings submitted by users and therapists. We only include professional details that are already public: your name, practice, location, professional contact information, credentials, specialties, and pricing. We never access non-public records, and we never publish home addresses, personal phone numbers, or personal email addresses.
Is this a privacy violation? No. Maintaining a directory of professionals using information they have made publicly available in a professional capacity is lawful, and it's the same basis on which other therapist directories and business listings operate. We take care to limit listings to professional information that is relevant to prospective clients. If you believe something on your listing is private or was never public, please tell us and we'll review it right away.
Can I have my listing taken down? In most cases, no — but we'd genuinely like to help make it accurate. Because listings are built from public professional information and help people find care, we don't remove a profile on request alone. We will remove a listing in extenuating circumstances, including:
- You've closed your practice or retired.
- You are no longer licensed or no longer practicing.
- You are not a mental health professional and were listed in error.
- You have a documented safety concern (for example, a protective order).
- The listing is a duplicate of another profile for you.
If one of these applies, use the I'm [your name] link on your listing or the Feedback page and let us know. We may ask for a little supporting information before acting on it.
What we will do — gladly. We will review and update any part of your profile to keep it current: phone number, email, website, address, pricing and insurance, specialties, credentials, or anything else that's out of date. Just tell us what's changed via the same link. We'd much rather have an accurate listing than an outdated one, and we encourage every therapist to claim their profile and help us keep it up to date.
Questions about how we handle listing information are also covered in our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
